Weekly Theme: Space is the Place
We will journey through space and all of the amazing things that make it up while learning how to handle all of the different emotions. Space is big and a little bit scary and it can be a little bit like our emotions. We will work on understanding what the different emotions are and how we can deal with the ones that can make us act in an unsafe way sometimes. We will work with each other to work out conflicts and figure out the best way to deal with angry feelings and angry thinking. We will get to make some really cool art projects and have fun making some moon sand. Campers will get a chance to walk like astronauts and have fun learning new space games.
Social Skills Topic:
Helpful ways of thinking positively; appropriate ways of dealing with angry feelings, thinking, and actions; and identifying emotions and dealing with them appropriately
This group is for High Functioning/Asperger's Middle School, High School and Young Adults
Does your teen enjoy hobbies related to technology? Then you don't want to miss this week of camp. Campers will learn to use website building programs like WordPress to develop a website in a team environment. Campers will gain confidence in their own abilities as well as learn the importance of appreciating the value and strengths of others in their group. Campers will also develop and further enhance their skills in the areas of digital photography and editing to make a slide show of their camp week, team or favorite subject. All activities will focus on improving their social and personal skills through working together as a team. Technology and social activities will be customized to the group based on the participants ages, ability and motivation so that we can facilitate individual and group positive experiences. Each technology week is a different set of stand alone skills so register for one or both!
